Autumn is officially here & the flies are swarming my house to prove it — ugh! That & I am in the mood to craft. Fall home decorations are my favorite crafts to make & I have a list a mile long of things to try.
We do not do Halloween really, but I have always loved the look of carved pumpkins so I thought I’d give these a try. This project I am doing with my girls. They had a lovely time painting up the inside of the jars last night. I originally bought a little bottle of the “Modge Podge Sheer Orange” sealer to try on a mason jar, but it did not go very far so I had to come up with something else. I vaguely remembered seeing an idea on the web about adding food colour to plain Modge Podge so I tried it and wahlah! It worked! I did put a second coat on them, though, as I felt that they were not orange enough. For those interested, I added the amount of drops suggested under the “dying eggs” section. I left three jars for the girlies to paint their faces on after school and then all that is left is to spray with clear sealer & add some pretty twine or ribbon. Those faces were kinda hard to hand paint, but I love the way they turned out!
Do you have any inspiring DIYs to share? If so, I’d love to see them! Leave the link(s) in the comment section below and I will check it out! Maybe I’ll have to add another project or two (or ten!) to my list from you!
