God’s Handiwork

August 2012 (10)

Psalm 19:1

“The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handiwork.”

On the looong trip home last night, and I mean looong, I was watching the sunset and decided to snap a picture of it.  The picture above is what I ended up with.  Watching it in person was much more breath-taking, but the picture still gives a good impression of what I saw.  Since moving out of town I have seen a lot of beautiful sunsets and every time it just hits me…..God painted that sky for me, for you, for all His children, to enjoy.  Wow. That is all I can say.

Then today as I was sitting here thinking of that picture it was impressed upon me to open the Word to see just what God has to say about the amazing sky and I opened it to the verse above.  Slightly modest I would say :).  His handiwork.  I would tend to think of handiwork as something easily done.  The definition of the word suggests otherwise, though.  God endeavored to do this and with His own hands, nonetheless.

I don’t know quite where I am going with all this.  I think I just can’t get past the vastness, the beauty, the colours, all of it, how wonderful it is and yet how much more beautiful, wonderful Heaven will be.  Just food for thought for myself.  Have a lovely evening….
